Helmi D, an official of the provincial government, received a visit from the Singaporean Consul General, Gavin Ang, and his team at the Riau Governor's Office in Pekanbaru on Thursday.
He welcomed the collaboration initiative and emphasized the Riau Provincial Government's commitment to continuously opening up collaboration to improve the regional economy. "We welcome the Singaporean Government's intention to collaborate. Riau is ready to be a strategic partner in developing the industrial sector and regional investment," said Helmi D.
He explained that the visit was conducted to assess Riau's potential, which the Singaporean Consul General wanted to convey to Singaporean investors.
The potential presented included downstream palm oil derivatives and the potential for developing solar panels for solar power plants.
"We hope that many investors will come to Riau, increasing investment value and increasing the number of workers and job opportunities between the two countries," he said.
Meanwhile, Singaporean Consul General Gavin Ang stated that Singapore views Riau as a potential and strategic region for strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the economic and tourism sectors.
"We had a good meeting to explore opportunities for cooperation and investment in Riau. Riau is seen as a hub for mainland Sumatra, and there is much development potential in the province," Gavin Ang said.
"We will continue to consider the best way to collaborate with the Riau Provincial Government to explore these opportunities," he said.
