Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto on Friday reviewed the National Police Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), an Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) kitchen, in Palmerah, West Jakarta, and stressed that meals should be served warm.

“How can we make sure it is served warm?” Prabowo said, as observed in a live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.

The request was immediately acknowledged by the head of the Palmerah National Police Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit.

During the visit, the President received a briefing on the facility, which was built on 900 square meters of National Police-owned land, with a building area of 400 square meters.

The kitchen is equipped with standard facilities, including water filters and a purification system, a water heater for washing food trays, an electric tray dryer, a UV sterilizer to eliminate viruses, bacteria, and germs from trays, and waste management equipment.

The facility has obtained eight certifications, including hygiene, competency, and halal certificates.

According to the unit head, the operational flow starts at the goods receiving area, followed by preparation areas for washing vegetables, fruits, and meat, a food tray washing area using a water heater, dry and cold storage rooms, and an equipment area.

The process then moves to the portioning team before meals are distributed. The menu prepared that day at the Palmerah National Police SPPG was selat solo, a Javanese-style braised beef dish originating from Solo, Central Java.

Before distribution, the meals undergo safety testing by the National Police Medical and Health Division (Dokkes).

The National Police SPPG unit differs from other similar facilities due to its food safety inspection system, which tests for nitrite, formalin, cyanide, and arsenic. Meals found to contain hazardous substances are not distributed and must be replaced.

Launched on January 6, 2025, the Free Nutritious Meals program is part of the government’s broader effort to support the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision and the Asta Cita missions aimed at strengthening human resource development to produce intelligent, healthy, and globally competitive citizens.

The beneficiaries include students, Islamic boarding school students, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers.
