Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Yassierli has urged companies and government institutions participating in the National Internship Program to facilitate competency tests for interns.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, he said the measure is intended to ensure that participants complete the program not only with an internship certificate, but also with a competency or skills certificate that can strengthen their job applications.

“National Internship participants should gain not only experience, but also proof of competence. There should be at least two certificates as evidence, an internship certificate from the partner institution and a competency certificate issued by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP),” he said.

According to the minister, a competency certificate provides formal recognition of the skills acquired during the internship period.

With such recognition, participants are expected to be better prepared to enter the labor market and compete for positions that match their interests and abilities.

“They are not merely participants. They learn new skills, and we hope these translate into real competence so they are more prepared to work in line with their passion,” Yassierli said.

He added that the ministry regularly coordinates with mentors at internship locations and implements a monitoring system requiring participants to complete logbooks.

Allowance payments are based on verification of the logbooks, he said. As of February, internship allowances follow the 2026 provincial, district, or city minimum wage policy in accordance with prevailing regulations.

“The allowances for internship participants refer to the 2026 minimum wage policy. I encourage participants to use them responsibly and for positive purposes,” Yassierli stated.
