Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation has regulated the temporary closure of ferry services to and from Bali during the 2026 Silence Day (Nyepi Day) in observance of the religious holiday and to ensure public order, security, and smooth traffic flow.

"Regarding the Nyepi Day, ferry services to and from Bali will be temporarily closed," the ministry's Director General of Land Transportation, Aan Suhanan, said on Monday.

The crossing regulations are stipulated in Joint Decrees (SKB) Number: KP-DRJD 854 of 2026, Number: HK.201/1/21DJPL/2026, Number: 20/KPTS/Db/2026, Number: Kep/43/II/2026 dated February 5, 2026, concerning Road Traffic and Crossing Regulations During the Eid Homecoming and Return Traffic Periods for 2026/1447 Hijri.

The regulations are being implemented to respect Nyepi Day and ensure controlled mobility, considering that Nyepi Day 2026 falls on March 19, close to Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri.

Suhanan explained that ferry operations will be closed on the Padang Bai–Lembar and Ketapang–Gilimanuk routes.

All ferry services on these routes will be temporarily suspended according to the established schedule and will resume after Nyepi ends.

The temporary closure will take place:
