During the meeting, Ambassador Boroujerdi conveyed his government’s expectation of support from Muslim-majority countries, particularly Indonesia.
Kalla said President Prabowo Subianto is prepared to take on a mediating role if requested by the parties involved.
“President Prabowo is ready to mediate in this conflict. However, it would require the consent of both sides,” he said in a statement.
He emphasized that any mediation effort would need further discussion with the government and would depend on the willingness of all parties concerned.
According to Kalla, Ambassador Boroujerdi outlined the current situation in his country, including public resistance and civilian casualties, among them students.
“During the discussion, the ambassador conveyed the latest situation in Iran, the resistance of the Iranian people, and the casualties suffered by many civilians, including students,” Kalla said.
He reiterated Indonesia’s commitment to supporting peace initiatives.
Previously, Israel launched an attack on Iran on February 28, 2026.
On a separate occasion, US President Donald Trump announced that the US military had begun a large-scale combat operation in Iran.
One of the US-Israeli strikes involved seven rockets targeting Tehran, near the residence of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran subsequently launched rocket attacks on Israel and several other locations in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain.
Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that President Prabowo was ready to facilitate dialogue to help restore a stable security situation.
On March 1, 2026, the Iranian government confirmed the death of Ali Khamenei and declared a 40-day period of mourning along with a week-long suspension of public activities.
