“This cooperation document serves as a legal framework. We can carry out various alignments, harmonization efforts, and mutually supportive activities to advance national culture,” Culture Minister Fadli Zon said in a statement confirmed here on Tuesday.
The five documents signed include agreements with the Communication and Digital Ministry on synergy in cultural affairs and communication and information, and with the Forestry Ministry on synergy in implementing respective duties and functions.
Another agreement was signed with the Creative Economy Ministry on synergy in creative economy development and cultural advancement, and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) on cooperation in research, innovation, and cultural affairs.
There is also an agreement with the Jakarta provincial government on accelerating cultural advancement, heritage preservation, and museum development.
“The signing marks an important step to improve the implementation of cultural programs more effectively at the technical level,” Zon said.
He also reminded that culture is a key foundation of national development as stipulated in Article 32 of the 1945 Constitution.
The minister added that advancing national culture requires the involvement of all stakeholders, including the central government, regional administrations, and the private sector.
He also highlighted the importance of digital technology in managing national cultural assets, including museum collections across Indonesia.
At the same occasion, Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya added that synergy between the cultural sector and the creative economy is essential to create added economic value for the community.
According to him, digital technology opens wider opportunities for Indonesian creative works to be recognized and appreciated.
