Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo said the MBG program is included in a strategic part of national development.
"The MBG Program is a mandate from President Prabowo Subianto to generate a healthy and intelligent generation. This program also stimulates the local economy by involving farmers, fishermen, and MSMEs. Therefore, the MBG is not only a social program, but also part of the national development strategy," he remarked in a statement on Tuesday.
The two MBG kitchens are located at the Wini Cross-Border Post (PLBN) and the Motamasin PLBN, East Nusa Tenggara.
According to Hanggodo, this development reflects the government’s commitment to delivering equal basic services in border regions, while also reinforcing the role of PLBNs as service hubs and catalysts for community welfare.
"This is a concrete manifestation of the state's presence in ensuring access to adequate nutrition, maintaining price stability, and ensuring food availability for border communities," he stated.
These facilities are expected to support the MBG program, especially for children in border areas.
The construction of both SPPGs was carried out by the Ministry of Public Works via the East Nusa Tenggara Strategic Infrastructure Work Unit under the Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure, with PT Pembangunan Perumahan (Persero) Tbk served as the contractor and PT Agrinas Jaladri Nusantara acted as the supervising consultant.
Both SPPGs are equipped with a main kitchen, a washing area for tools and food ingredients, dry and wet storage warehouses, equipment storage, parking areas, clean water networks, and a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to ensure hygiene standards and environmental sustainability.
Supporting infrastructure, such as a panel room, a waste disposal site (TPS), and landscape design had also been provided.
The SPPG at the Wini PLBN was built on 1,408.63 m² of land in Timor Tengah Utara District, while the SPPG at the Motamasin PLBN stands on 1,469.12 m² of land in Malaka District.
The existence of these SPPGs not only serves as nutrition service facilities but also symbolize the state's presence in ensuring that every Indonesian child, including those in border areas, has access to adequate nutrition.
