"We are taking a comprehensive approach," said Syamsu Rizal, a member of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR), on Saturday.
He added that the government, including the Foreign Ministry, is intensifying coordination and communication with relevant parties to secure the hostages' release.
"We are pursuing all efforts, including diplomacy and non-state approaches," he said.
The government continues to monitor efforts to free the hostages, including the four Indonesians.
The DPR has urged authorities to prioritize a humanitarian approach and ensure the hostages' safety.
Syamsu stressed that protecting Indonesians abroad is a non-negotiable constitutional mandate.
He said the hostages were reported to be in good condition and expressed hope for their swift release.
The Oman-flagged tanker was hijacked by Somali pirates on April 21, 2026, with 17 crew members taken hostage, including four Indonesians.
Families of the victims have urged the government to secure their safe return amid ransom demands.
