Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - Indonesia's immigration authority in Bali has nabbed 62 foreign nationals for alleged immigration violations and public order disturbances during a recent operation.

Felucia Sengky Ratna, head of the Directorate General of Immigration's Bali regional office, stated that the foreigners will be referred to the police if a follow up probe finds them committing crimes.

"Meanwhile, if we found no criminal activities during our probe, we will deport them," Ratna stated during a press conference on Tuesday.

The official explained the outcomes of the Dharma Dewata operation which took place from April 15 to May 4 2026.

She said the 62 foreign nationals were arrested under Article 75 Paragraph 1 of the Immigration Law, which authorizes action against foreigners who engage in activities that endanger public security and order or violate prevailing laws.

The operation was conducted at several foreigner hotspots in Denpasar and Badung as well as Singaraja to target individuals suspected of overstaying.

Authorities also investigated reports of individuals providing false data in visa applications or engaging in illegal work and fake investment schemes.

Officers involved in the operation also reprimanded several foreigners found to have committed minor immigration violations.

The arrested foreigners are currently under questioning by officers at their respective immigration offices in Bali.

Ratna did not disclose the nationalities of the arrested foreigners to avoid diplomatic sensitivities during the ongoing investigation.

She considered the operation a success since it was conducted independently by the directorate general office in Bali.

The operation is important to ensure public security and a conducive investment environment while maintaining dignified tourism.

“The operation reflects our commitment to ensuring that only foreigners who benefit the region and respect local customs can enter Bali,” Ratna remarked.

She also expressed a commitment to intensifying the monitoring of foreigners visiting or working in the region to ensure compliance with procedures.
