As cited from his media team in Jakarta, Prabowo and his entourage received a welcome ceremony featuring a traditional dance performance and were greeted by Philippine officials upon arrival at Benito Ebuen Airbase.
The president then boarded a Maung Garuda, an Indonesia-made car designated as a state vehicle, to prepare for his participation in the 48th high-level conference of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which carries the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together.”
Earlier today, the Presidential Secretariat noted in a statement that the head of state is scheduled to begin his Cebu agenda by joining the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit.
The BIMP-EAGA Summit serves as a strategic forum for the four countries to strengthen connectivity and step up economic cooperation in their sub-region.
During the visit, President Prabowo will also join talks aimed at exploring ways to strengthen cooperation among ASEAN countries, including efforts to navigate and address current global dynamics.
Other issues to be discussed include global developments impacting the region, with emphasis on maintaining energy security and enhancing coordination in responding to rising geopolitical challenges.
The ASEAN leaders’ meeting is also expected to reinforce regional collaboration in maintaining stability, economic growth, and strategic cooperation across sectors.
Accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to the Philippines were Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Lahadalia is set to assist the president at forums discussing strategic energy sector issues of common concern to ASEAN countries, according to a ministry official.
