Perpusnas Head E. Aminudin Aziz said the collection would enrich the “Window of Korea” section on the 20th floor of the library’s service building in Jakarta and help attract more visitors.
“Learning about Korea is not enough through social media alone, but also requires deeper reading materials. This new collection will encourage students, lecturers, and the public to visit Perpusnas,” he said in an official statement in Jakarta on Sunday, noting that the handover ceremony took place on Saturday.
The cooperation builds on previous collaboration between the institutions, including the establishment of the “Window of Korea,” a special reading corner dedicated to Korea-related library collections.
Consul General at the South Korean Embassy in Jakarta, Kang Won Joon, said the support reflects Seoul’s commitment to strengthening literacy and cultural exchange.
Kang handed over 150 Korean-language books and magazines covering various topics, including culture, literature, art, cuisine, education, as well as books for children and teenagers.
“With these books, Indonesians can broaden their understanding of Korea and become more interested in visiting the country in the future. This collection offers greater opportunities for Perpusnas visitors to explore the richness of Korean traditions and culture,” he said.
Alongside the donation event, KCCI organized a Korean folktale storytelling competition and bookmark-making activities, which drew strong participation from children and parents.
The storytelling competition was divided into two categories, children under 13 years old and general participants aged above 13, with contestants presenting Korean folk tales as part of efforts to introduce Korean culture through literacy activities.
Perpusnas said it hopes the “Window of Korea” will serve not only as a thematic reading space, but also as a medium for cross-cultural learning that enriches public understanding of world literature and culture.
