... we will continue to boost it for our MSMEsJakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment is expanding programs to support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including a “1,001 traditional markets” initiative, wider business loans and job creation efforts.
Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar said he was scheduled to report the programs’ progress to President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Muhaimin, widely known as Cak Imin, said the report would cover poverty alleviation, community empowerment programs, job creation targets and efforts to improve MSME productivity.
He added that the government is also expanding training subsidies and improving access to venture capital financing for MSME operators nationwide.
Cak Imin said disbursement of the government-backed People’s Business Credit, or KUR, continued to increase and would be further expanded, including for 1,000 MSMEs in Bali.
“Tomorrow, 1,000 MSMEs in Bali will receive KUR,” he said, referring to Wednesday, May 13.
The minister also plans to brief the president on the “SMK Go Global” program, which seeks to expand overseas employment opportunities for vocational school graduates, especially from low-income communities.
On poverty reduction, Cak Imin said the government continued monitoring misuse of social assistance funds for online gambling activities.
Recipients found using social aid funds for online gambling would be removed from the beneficiary list, he added.
The government is also preparing a “10 million jobs and 10 million upgrades” program to strengthen MSME growth and expand Indonesia’s middle class.
“We want to create jobs, improve incomes and build a stronger middle class through MSME growth,” Cak Imin said.
