The initiative was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with Copenhagen Urban Solar Parks BD Ltd (CUSP) earlier this week.
Pertamina NRE President Director John Anis said the partnership marks the first step for both companies in exploring investment opportunities and developing clean energy projects in Bangladesh, in line with efforts to accelerate the energy transition and strengthen regional cooperation.
“Amidst the uncertain global situation, this collaboration brings important momentum and a strategic step for renewable energy development in Indonesia while supporting Bangladesh’s need for sustainable clean energy,” Anis said in a statement on Saturday.
He added that the partnership reflects Bangladesh’s confidence in Pertamina NRE’s capabilities and experience in developing large-scale renewable projects internationally.
Both parties will conduct a feasibility study covering technical, market, business, environmental, legal, and project risk aspects.
They also plan to explore strategic, technical, and commercial cooperation, including knowledge exchange and technology applications related to renewable energy.
He noted that cooperation with Bangladesh has the potential to strengthen the company’s international portfolio, which has already shown positive results in the Philippines.
“We currently have an installed capacity of over 1 GWp in the Philippines and continue to grow, with a target of reaching 2.6 GWp by the end of this year. This achievement provides important capital for Pertamina NRE to develop similar projects in Bangladesh,” he said.
Meanwhile, CUSP Chairman Ziaur Rahman welcomed the partnership, describing it as a strategic step to deliver innovative, efficient, and impactful clean energy solutions for sustainable development in Bangladesh.
