Speaking in Jakarta on Tuesday, he said the surge in crude palm oil (CPO) production has secured national reserves and maintained a surplus, despite a portion of the yield being allocated to support the B50 policy this year.
Sulaiman noted that national palm oil production previously stood at around 46 million tons, making the government optimistic that the demands for biodiesel, domestic cooking oil, and exports can all be met simultaneously.
Of that total production, 20 million tons were allocated for cooking oil and 26 million tons for export.
Export volumes have now risen to 32 million tons in line with increasing palm oil productivity. Even so, he did not provide specific details regarding the surge in CPO production to back the export figure.
According to him, under the current scheme, the allocation for B50 implementation is estimated at around 5–6 million tons of the total national palm oil production.
"Export volume reached 26 million tons, and now it has risen to 32 million tons. If we draw 5 million tons from this, it means there is still a 1-million-ton surplus," he explained, noting that domestic needs for cooking oil stand at 20 million tons.
The minister emphasized that government calculations show national palm oil supplies remain in surplus, even when a portion of production is being diverted to support the strengthening of the national biodiesel-based energy program.
The production and export data used in these calculations come from the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (Gapki), which has long served as the benchmark for the national palm oil industry.
The government is optimistic that B50 implementation can strike a balance between national energy interests, public cooking oil needs, and the sustainability of Indonesian palm oil exports to the international market, where Indonesia holds a 60 percent share.
