Speaking at a ceremony marking the presentation of budget-funded project proposal lists at his office here Tuesday, Agriculture Minister Zulkifli Hasan said for the period 2010-2014 his ministry had programmed a set of priority activities covering the strengthening of forest areas, forest rehabilitation and enhancement of river watershed areas, forest safeguarding, forest fire control and bio-diversity conservation.
In addition, the ministry had formulated priority policies on forest and forestry industry utilization and revitalization, empowerment of residents living close to forest areas, climate change mitigation and adaptation programs and empowerment of forestry institutions.
Minister Hasan said the value of the project lists which were presented ted had increased 49.1 percent, or approximately 2.0 trillion rupiahs, compared with the values of the project lists in the previous year.
According to him, the increased amount would be needed as there were additional project lists for supporting the replanting program which would be kept being increased for this year.
There are 402 program activities in the project list consisting of those carried out by 46 central working units of 1.7 trillion rupiahs, 185 technical executing units amounting to 4.1 trillion rupiahs and 171 working units in the provincial and regency levels.
Some 1.1 trillion rupiahs has been allocated on supportive activities and the rest 1.08 trillion rupiahs for routine expenditures such as salary payments and office operations nationwide.
