"This design was very clear. They wanted me to die," Gayus Tambunan said at a South Jakarta District Court session on his case here Monday.
Previously, Gayus had admitted that he had gone to Bali to watch an international tennis match while he was officially in prison.
But he was not yet prepared to disclose the names of the persons who had set him up in the scenarios of his overseas trips.
Gayus promised to reveal the scenarios behind his overseas trips after he had been sentenced.
"I will reveal the scenarios of my foreign trips later," Gayus said.
Menahwile, a member of the House of Representatives Commission on legal affairs, Bambang Soesatyo, said Gayus`s overseas trips seemed to have been engineered to weaken the legal system.
"I believe the Judicial Mafia Eradication Task Force has indirectly opened the opportunity for certain parties to attack and weaken the legal system," Bambang said on Monday.
Bambang said the motive was clear based on how the task force acted and managed to enable Gayus to leave his cell at the Mobile Brigade Headquarters` detention center in Kelapa Dua, Depok.
The task force had wanted Gayus to commit another sensational act.
"The furor over Gayus making a trip to Macau (and some other countries) would not have happened if the task force had since November 2010 disclosed the matter and the details of Gayus` activities outside the Brimob detention center," he said.
