Around 500 participants from 51 Muslim majority countries would participate in the meeting, Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Marzuki Alie said here Thursday in a meeting to discuss preparations for the PUIC gathering next year.
The preparation meeting was also attended by South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin and Chairman of the Inter-parliamentary Cooperation Board Hidayat Nurwahid.
Marzuki Alie said the PUIC meeting would be a good opportunity to promote tourism and business potentials of South Sumatra.
On the sidelines of their meeting, the PUIC delegates will be entertained to field visits to Palembang Grand Mosque, Admiral Ceng Ho Mosque, and Tangga Buntung traditional woven clothe industry.(*)
