"John had accepted a number of money from Gayus in a hotel located at North Jakarta, and in June he had left Indonesia,"Jakarta (ANTARA News) - An American citizen named John Jerome Grice is wanted by the Indonesian police in connection with the false passport used by tax evasion and corruption defendant Gayus HP Tambunan, to travel overseas, a police spokesman said.
"The Criminal Investigation Department is preparing the inclusion of John Jerome Grice in the list of wanted persons in forged Gayus Tambunan passport case," National Police Headquarters spokesman Senior Commissioner Boy Rafli Amar said here Monday.
The police were cooperating with an international network to locate John Grice who was believed to be staying in an Asian country, Boy said.
"John had been in Indonesia since 2007. And according to the investigated defendant and witnesses, he worked as a business consultant," he said.
The police spokesman also said that John played an important role in receiving money from Gayus Tambunan of 100.000 US dollar for the passport making payment.
"John had accepted a number of money from Gayus in a hotel located at North Jakarta, and in June he had left Indonesia," Boy said here Monday.
The police, he added, was still investigating electronic conversation by involving information technology expert to gain the facts.
"We are still exploring the conversation between John and several people," said the police.
Gayus had gone out from the Mobile Brigade (Brimob)`s detention center in Kelapa Dua, Depok to several countries with Milana, his wife.
He was known to have visited Macau on September 22 to 24, Kuala Lumpur on September 30 and Singapore on October 2, 2010 with a false passport while he was supposed to be in jail.
The police had found out that the passport on behalf of Sony Laksono with the picture of Gayus Tambunan was actually reserved for Margaretta, a five tear old girl. Gayus had confessed he had obtained the passport from a broker by paying 100.000 US dollar. (*)
