Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Police Watch (IPW) called on the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas Ham) to form a fact-finding team to probe the alleged orchestration of former anti-graft commission chief Antasari`s case.

"We called for the establishment of a team to probe what was stated by former taxman Gayus HP Tambunan that police were afraid to investigate prosecutor Cirus Sinaga`s case for fear it would uncover the fact that Antasari`s case had been fabricated," IPW Presidium Chief Neta S Pane said here on Sunday.

He said that if it was true that the Antasari case had been engineered it meant that Antasar`s human rights had been violated.

"If the allegation that Antasari`s case had been fabricated, he should be freed for the sake of the law," Neta S Pane said.

The IPW chairman said that the allegation of engineered case was an indication that might lead to the truth that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono`s government had made lies to destroy its political rivals.

"In this case, the Komnas Ham should immediately summon Gayus, Cirus, Comm.Gen. Susno Duadji, former police chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri, Senior Commissioner Wiliardi and other police officers who were involved in the handling of the Antasari case," Neta S Pane said.

Gayus, following the court decision that sentenced him to seven years in jail several days ago, made a statement which among others mentioned prosecutor Cirus in fabrication of the Antasari case.

Antisari Azhar is a former chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) who was sentenced to 18 years in the murder case of Nasruddin Zulkarnaen, director of PT Putra Rajawali Banjaran.

Cirus Sinaga is the public prosecutor who handled the Antasari case.
