After flying for 9 hours from Palam military airbase in New Delhi, India, the presidential aircraft Garuda Indonesia Airbus A330-300 landed at Zurich International Airport when the local temperature was 3 degrees Celsius.
The Indonesian head of state is scheduled to spend a night in Zurich before heading for Davos on Thursday by overland trip for about three hours to attend World Economic Forum (WEF).
In Davos on Thursday, President Yudhoyono will deliver a keynote address, followed by questions and answers session with WEF chairman Klaus Schwab.
President Yudhoyono`s presence at WEF will be the first since the forum was established by an independent organization to discuss and to find out solution to various global issues.
Every year the World Economic Forum is attended by the leaders of world`s giant companies, institutions of international organizations chairmen, and several heads of state/government.
Indonesia will host WEF for East Asia from July 12-13 this year.
President Yudhoyono in Davos is also scheduled to speak at a session to be attended by executive leaders of world`s energy companies to discuss energy issues.
The Indonesian head of state will also act as panelist at sustainable development session with Presidents Felipe CalderUn of Mexico, Tarja Halonen of Finland, and Jacob G Zuma of South Africa.
After that, President Yudhoyono will attend a meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and WTO Director Pascal Lamy to discuss economic growth and revitalization of world trade.
At the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, President Yudhoyono
will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Colombia, France, and Switzerland namely Juan Manuel Santos, Nicolas Sarkozy, and Micheline Clamy Rey, UN Chief Ban Ki-moon, former US President Bill Clinton, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
