Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi said the government was still seeking the right solution to the Ahmadiyah problem.

He said here on Thursday that with regard to finding the best solution of the problem the government had conducted dialogs with various parties for their inputs.

"We are seeking the right solution through dialogs we are now developing," he said.

He said the dialogue was done with intellectuals, the Indonesian Council of Ulemas and other parties concerned including community members.

"Whatever the decision will be made it will be good if all parties concerned are heard," he said.

The minister further said the government was now still evaluating the implementation of the ministerial decree on Ahmadiyah.

He said the decree has until now been used as a reference for all parties with regard to Ahmadiyah`s existence. Gamawan said if the decree was revoked it would cause difficulties.

"The decree is still used as a reference because it is our reference for dealing with problems that developed. If there is decree situation will be more difficult," he said.

About the possibility of making the decree into a law the minister said it could become the solution but there is basic substance in the decree that still has yet to be studied profoundly.

He said he respected every opinion and inputs from various parties regarding the stand that the government had to take.

He hoped there would be the best solution for the problem which is acceptable and respected by all parties so that the incident would not happen again in the future.

"How beautiful it would be if a solution is found which is acceptable by all parties. That is the most ideal," he said.

Coordinating minister for political, security and legal affairs Djoko Suyanto earlier said that evaluation had to be made on the decree comprehensively.

"Do not blame the decree because it was made jointly and through a process. Therefore evaluation by the minister of religious affairs must be thorough," he said when accompanying President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the working visit to East Nusa Tenggara on Tuesday.

Djoko said people must not only see the content of the decree

and just dissolve Ahmadiyah. It could be like that because it had to do with belief and therefore it is not easy to settle the core of the problem.

"Let us evaluate it after two years so that our life will be more comfortable. So the substance is not only the decree but how harmonious relations between Ahmadiyah followers and other community groups could be achieved," he said.
