"We are targeting to connect the electricity for 100 thousand customers in the first half of 2011."
Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA News) - State-owned electricity company PLN of Lampung region is targeting an increase in its electrification ratio or installation of electrical connections in the area from 57.6 percent to 60 percent in 2011, a spokesman said here Wednesday.

The company will take several steps to speed up the process of the electricity installation, namely cuts in the bureaucratic process of new installation, open the Mobile Marketing Service (SARLING), customers are not charged security deposits from customers and repositioning the PLN, the Public Relations Division Manager of PLN Lampung, Sumargo, noted.

"We are targeting to connect the electricity for 100 thousand customers in the first half of 2011," he said.

Sumargo added, the customers who already meet the technical and administrative requirements will be directly connected to the Measuring and Border Tools.

In addition, to support the ease of installation of new electricity connection for the people, PLN also conducts sterilization feeders to ensure a reliable and good electricity supply in terms of both quantity and quality.

During January 2011, PLN of Lampung region performed sterilization feeders to minimize electrical interference at 104 feeders with a length of cable to reach 7,324.55 km circuit.

The sterilization was done to improve the reliability of the network, so that 2 meters from the feeder should be free from interference.

According to Sumargo, so far about 49 percent of the electrical interference occurs due to fallen tree that struck the PLN-owned cable network that eventually lead to black out.

Therefore, PLN has been coordinating with the city administration to trim the trees adjacent to the grid and ask people to give up the plants that disrupt the electrical network for pruned.

Meanwhile, overall, the state electricity customers in Lampung numbering more than 1 million including from industrial groups.

PLN Lampung targets by 2014 has served 70-75 percents people`s electricity need in Lampung.

Based on the amount of electricity current supply, PLN Lampung is still able to perform the addition of new customers as many as 11 thousand customers.

The sources of electrical energy in Lampung produced by Tarahan steam power plant (200 MW), Way Besay and Batu Tegi hydro power plants (2x45 MW and 2x14 MW for each) as well as diesel power plant (30 MW).

The number of customers who enter the waiting list for its electricity needs met is still high namely 139 thousand subscribers, and nearly 28 thousand of which live in the new expansion areas in Lampung.
