Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The 2011 state Budget recorded a deficit of Rp6.3 trillion as per January 31 because of rising state expenditure, a Finance Ministry official said.

The state expenditure accounted for 5.4 percent of the 2011 budget ceiling, acting chief of the ministry`s fiscal policy board Bambang Brodjonegoro said here on Thursday.

State revenues and grants in January 2011 rose 8.3 percent from the same period last year to Rp60.6 trillion, accounting for 5.5 percent of the target set in the 2011 state budget, he said.

He said tax receipts contributed Rp53.5 trillion to the state revenue, representing 6.3 percent of the target. Compared to the same period last year the figure rose 11.2 percent.

"This is particularly influenced by an increase in income tax receipts from the non-oil/non-gas sector which grew 32.1 percent to Rp25.1 trillion due to the improving macro economic condition," he said.

He said the increase in tax receipts was also fueled by rising state revenues from export tax thanks to higher crude palm oil prices in the international market.

Meanwhile, non-tax state revenues reached Rp7.1 trillion, or 2.8 percent of the target, dominated by oil and gas revenues worth Rp2.6 trillion, non-oil/non-gas revenues Rp1.8 trillion and other non-tax state revenues Rp2.6 trillion.(*)
