Mamuju, West Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - A number of public order officers in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, attacked a State High School of Mamuju on Wednesday, causing serious injuries to three students.

Based on information gathered by ANTARA News here, the three injured students were third grade students of the High School named Muh. Dirmat Dimetrio, Muh Rusli and Afriadi.

The attack carried out by tens of the officers whose station was located in front of regent`s office and 50 meters from the high school building. The officers attacked when the students were studying in their classrooms.

According to a students, Asmirawati Ahmad, one of the teachers of the school, said that the assault was triggered by the officers` anger due to the students` mockery.

"The civil service felt insulted because some of the students shouted mockingly to the officers, so they became angry and attacked the school," she said.

She added that the public order officers wandered around the school to find the students who mocked them and afterwards, they also searched the classrooms and found the three students accused of mocking the officers.

"The action made the lab of the students to stop its activities, and the officers manhandled the students," she added.

According to her, because of the assault, the three students got serious injuries on their head and necks and kept bleeding and the officers left the school later. A minute after the attack, some of the high school students gathered in the schoolyard and would take revenge but it could be avoided by the teachers.

Adjunct Commissioner Darwis Rincing, the Police chief of Mamuju, said that the police were still investigating the case.
