Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned banks extended Rp3.829 trillion in smallholder business credits (KUR) in the year to February 2011, or higher than the projected Rp3.5 trillion, a minister said.

"The amount of KUR extended in the first two months of this year unexpectedly outstripped our previous projection of Rp3.5 trillion," State Enterprises Minister Mustafa Abubakar said here on Friday.

Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) led state-owned banks in channeling KUR with Rp2.5 trillion, followed by 13 regional government-owned banks (BPD) with Rp512 billion, he said.

Bank BNI Tbk came in third with Rp322 billion, followed by Bank Mandiri Tbk Rp322 billion, Bank Syariah Mandiri Rp96 billion, and Bank Bukopin Tbk Rp66 billion, he said.

The KUR consisted of Rp1.86 trillion channeled in January and Rp1.96 trillion in February, he said.

Last year, the amount of KUR extended by state-owned banks reached Rp13.6 trillion, accounting for 82.9 percent of the total KUR channeled by domestic banks reaching Rp16.42 trillion.

The government has set the target of KUR for this year at Rp20 trillion.

As the proxy of state-owned banks` shareholders, the State Enterprises Ministry would always encourage state banks to channel more KUR to boost the economy through micro, small and medium scale business, he said. (*)
