Bogor, W Java (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono here on Monday chaired a plenary cabinet meeting to discuss ways of controlling inflation and maintaining food and energy security.

The government is making every effort to control inflation and maintain food and energy security following the dynamics in the Middle East that has caused the surge in global crude oil prices.

In his introduction before starting the cabinet plenary meeting at Bogor Palace, President Yudhoyono said several steps that have been and would be taken by the government to control inflation were among others price stabilization and increase in national oil production.

"Therefore we hope that despite the turmoil in overseas, we have effective steps to minimize its impact on the people`s economy," the president said.

Yudhoyono then requested to the ranks of his ministers to control inflation that could be caused by the rising prices of world`s crude oil, and to maintain food and energy security.

"The coordinating minister for economy in this meeting will explain the steps that have been and will be made to maintain food and energy security, especially in the face of global food and energy price volatility," the head of state said.

Present at the meeting which started at 2 on Monday afternoon were all economic ministers, state oil company PT Pertamina President Director Karen Agustiawan, and state electricity company PT PLN President Director Dahlan Iskan.

Earlier in the day the president opened the International Association for Court Administrator (IACA) Asia-Pacific Regional Conference.

Present at the conference which is to last until March 16, are more than 200 participants from 19 Asia-Pacific countries, representing 40 jurisdictions, to exchange information and experience

to achieve public access to the court.

Various topics to be discussed in the IACA Conference 2011 are among others, facilities access to justice for marginalized groups, circumference trial and access to justice for the poor people living in remote areas, access to justice for children, judicial cooperation with non-governmental organizations, post legal assistance and advocate picket in court, and court administration training.

Besides, problem of providing information to court users, communication with stakeholders court, and monitoring and evaluation of access to court will also be discussed at the conference.(*)
