He said during a visit to Singosari, Malang, East Java, here on Tuesday the country`s exports to Japan still continued and many ports in Japan had even started their activities.
He said he had seen no significant impact of the disaster on the country`s exports nor cancellation of exports to that country so far.
"I have talked with the governor of East Java, Soekarwo, who said there have not been any postponement of exports to Japan," he said.
Hatta believed in the future there would be more opportunity for the country`s commodities to be exported to Japan as the country`s economic and export activities had not been hindered by the disaster.
"Japan still needs a number of commodities from us and therefore the opportunity for other commodities to be exported to that country will be opened," he said.
Hatta hoped Japan could immediately recover from the disaster. "We hope Japan will soon recover from the impact of the earthquake and tsunami," he said.
Hatta visited Singosari to see Arabica coffee planting activity.(*)
