In the initial phase 60 well trained personnel will be dispatched and expected to have left for Japan on Thursday morning
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency said the Indonesian government will send a team to Japan to help the country cope with the disasters which happened last Friday.

"It was hoped the team would also have left for Japan on Thursday (Mar 17) morning," head of the data,information and public relations center of the National Disaster Eradication Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said in Manado, North Sulawesi, when contacted from Jakarta Tuesday morning.

He said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has ordered the dispatch of the Indonesian team to Japan.

The BNPB will send medical, SAR and well-trained multifunctional personnel from the Disaster Mitigation Rapid Action Unit (SRC-PB), which include military members, BNPB, Indonesian Red Cross, Health Ministry and some other relevant ministries and institutions.

"In the initial phase 60 well trained personnel will be dispatched and expected to have left for Japan on Thursday morning ," he said.

He also said the Indonesian team will join the teams of 69 other countries with similar aims and purposes.(*)
