Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The police are not to raise Jakarta`s security alert level yet following the recent parcel bomb threats, National Police Chief General Timur Pradopo said.

He said the police would make the decision depending on how the situation developed.

"For now. there will be raise in the security alert level. It will be determined depending on the prevailing situation," he said.

He said the police were still working hard to solve the parcel bomb cases that had occurred since Tuesday and he called on the public not to worry.

"The police are still working hard in investigating the cases. Certainly we will try to identify the couriers with regard to accelerating the process," he said.

He said people must help the police by being part of preventive efforts namely reporting to the people when they found suspicious things around them.

Presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha meanwhile said people could not conclude that attacks had been launched on President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono just based upon the discovery of a bomb in Cibubur, East Jakarta, on Saturday.

"It is not automatically so. The President certainly does not want to see attacks on anybody anywhere. The state also would not give a room for violent acts to happen anywhere near or far away from his residence, at the palace or others including his residence in Cikeas," he said.

He said the president`s security procedures remained normal procedures and were not stepped up.

In line with the directives of President Yudhoyono made before a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Julian said the State Intelligence Agency must always be alert so that no bomb terror could occur.

"Certainly evaluation will be made with regard to our intelligence system. The President has given his directives with regard to the issue. This is a challenge for state intelligence agency to work harder to be able to conduct early identification on bomb threats," Julian said. (*)
