Palembang, South Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa said Tanjung Api-api, Banyuasin, South Sumatra, will be made into a special economic zone where industries and a seaport will be built.

Tanjung Api-api would become a special economic area and it has been stated in the national development planning, he said here on Saturday.

He made the statement when installing the regional executive board for 2010 to 2015 of the National Mandate Party which he chairs.

Hatta said a railway would also be built in the region to transport coal from coal producing districts such as Lahat and Tanjung Enim.

Tanjung Api-api would become a special zone as a seaport would also be developed there, he said.

He said those huge projects must be supported by all people so that the welfare of the people in the region would improve.

Not only that Hatta said the central government also plans to develop economic centers in every district and city in the province.

To support the development of growth centers he said entrepreneurship programs would be held so that people would become more self-sufficient.

He said the government hoped with the implementation of the development program the people`s economy especially in South Sulawesi would grow bigger.
