Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police seized 0.8 gram of crystal methamphetamine (shabu-shabu) from Putri Aryanti Haryowibowo, a great-grandchild of former president Soeharto, in a raid early Friday, a police spokesman said on Sunday.

"The shabu-shabu seized from her weighs 0.8 gram," Sr.Com. Anjan Pramuka Putra, director of drugs unit at the Jakarta police, said.

He said Putri was arrested at Maharani hotel in Pancoran, South Jakarta, at the wee hours of Friday.

Earlier, rumors had it that police seized tens of grams of shabu-shabu and hundreds of ecstasy pills from Putri and her syndicate. However, Anjan denied the rumors.

What was true was that the city police only seized around 30 grams of shabu-shabu from the drug syndicate following tip-offs from Putri, he said.

Sandy Arifin, Putri`s lawyer, denied that his client possessed 0.8 grams of shabu-shabu arguing the contraband did not come from her.

He said Putri was currently undergoing investigation.

Also on Friday, police arrested three other people, one of them middle-ranking police officer, on charges of possessing the drug.

Indonesia is among the Asian countries being seriously threatened by drug smuggling syndicates.

According to the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), there were 3.6 million drug users in Indonesia in 2008.(*)
