Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Bank Central Asia (BCA) books a net profit of Rp8.5 trillion in 2010, which is 24.6 percent higher than in the previous year which is recorded at Rp6.8 trillion.

"BCA has been able to take an advantage of Indonesia`s strong economic growth, supported by its sound balance sheet," its president director, DE Setijoso said here on Wednesday.

He said its superiority in transactional banking has also made it possible for the bank to increase the volume of its transactions and expand credits.

"With the achievement its return on assets has been recorded at 3.5 percent while the return on equity has reached 33.3 percent," he said.

Its credit extension grew in all segments, supported by low interest rates and high demand from customers.

In all, its credit portfolio grew 24.2 percent to Rp153.9 trillion in 2010. With regard to its composition, consumer credits grew 31.9 percent to Rp36.5 trillion in 2010 supported by housing and motor vehicle credits.

The housing credits (KPR) rose 39.2 percent to Rp18.3 trillion while motor vehicle credits by 29.1 percent to Rp12.5 trillion.

Its credit cards` balance meanwhile rose 15.9 percent to Rp4.8 trillion by the end of 2010.

Extension of credits to small and medium businesses as well as commercial businesses grew 27.0 percent to Rp61.2 trillion while to corporate customers 17.9 percent to Rp56.3 trillion in 2010.

The bank`s non-performing loan ratio reached 0.6 percent with reserves for non-performing loans reaching 394.5 percent. The capital adequacy ratio was recorded at 13.5 percent.

The bank`s third party funds grew 13.2 percent to Rp277.5 trillion in December 2010 while giro funds reached Rp64 trillion compared to the same period in the previous year. Savings grew 13.6 percent to Rp145.6 trillion.

Deposits grew 4.0 percent to Rp68 trillion in 2010. By December 2010 giro and savings funds contributed 75.5 percent to the total third party funds.

BCA has expanded its electronic banking network and points of sales by adding 27 more branches, 848 ATMs and 18,379 electronic debit cards.

The value of transactions through internet banking meanwhile grew 40.7 percent to Rp1,907.7 trillion while transactions through mobile banking rose 38.5 percent to Rp187,4 trillion.
