The Brunei government is facing difficulties to discard the ships so that it offered them to IndonesiaJakarta (ANTARA News) - The National Defense Forces (TNI) is considering an offer from Brunei Darussalam to of two fast patrol boats to reinforce its fleet in providing security for the country`s waters, the TNI chief said.
"The two fast patrol boats which are equipped with guided missiles are expected to be received later this month," TNI Commander Admiral Agus Suhartono said here on Monday.
He said that the decision to accept the petrol boats would however need approval from the President and the House of Representatives.
The TNI chief said that Brunei would give the two ships, made in Britain, to Indonesia without conditions because the Brunei government had bought newer patrol boats.
"The Brunei government is facing difficulties to discard the ships so that it offered them to Indonesia," he said.
He said that Brunei also would do its best to issue the needed documents for the ships which would be provided in the form of grant.
In the meantime, deputy chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR), Tubagus Hassanuddin said he had received a letter of proposal to receive the two fast patrol boats. The letter was sent by the deputy defense minister.
"We have received the letter of proposal to accept the patrol boat grant. We are studying it," Hassanuddin said.(*)
