Jakarta (ANTARA News) - No Indonesian migrant worker in Japan fall victim to the recent earthquake-triggered tsunami, Manpower and Transmigration Minister Muhaimin Iskandar said.

"Based on the results of our monitoring efforts so far, there is no information about any Indonesian migrant worker or internship program participant having become a victim of the tsunami in Japan," Muhaimin said at a working meeting with the House of Representatives` Commission IX at the legislative building on Wednesday.

He said the Manpower and Transportation Ministry and the Indonesian manpower placement and protection agency (BNP2TKI) had been continuously monitoring the fate of Indonesian migrant workers (TKIs) in Japan through the Japan International Corporation of Welfare Services (JICWELS) and the Japanese labor attache in Jakarta but there was no information about any of them having become a victim.

Muhaimin also ensured that the Japanese government and TKI recipient company there were ready to be responsible if there were tsunami victims in Indonesian side.

"If there are victims of TKI, especially the nurse and caregiver, the JICWELS will be fully responsible, while if the victims are from the internship program participants, the International Manpower Development of Medium and Small Enterprises will be responsible," Muhaimin said.
