"We have a week, give our men in the field a chance to find out."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police have detained terrorist suspects identified by their initials, namely KS, MA, X, WR, MG and DT.
"Yes, that`s right there were some arrests at 5.10 am Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB) at Rawadas RT 1 RW 3 village, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta," Head of the National Police`s Public Relations Division Inspector General Anton Bachrul Alam said here Thursday.
Anton, however, could not name the group the six alleged terrorists belonged to.
"We have a week, give our men in the field a chance to find out," he said.
The six people were arrested at Duren Sawit in rented houses no. 72 and 78 owned by a woman named Elizabeth, he said.
He said the police were still studying their motive for staying in Jakarta as they among other things hailed from Cirebon and Majalengka (West Java Province).
Meanwhile, Presidential Spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha said at the presidential palace complex earlier Thursday that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had received information on the arrest of several people suspected of being terrorists in East Jakarta.
"We have passed on to him initial information, not the whole story, as we have heard that there are some arrests today," Presidential Spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha said at the presidential palace complex here Thursday.
The information conveyed to the president was preliminary and informal in nature, he said, adding that the whole report would be directly submitted by the police to the president later.
"Formally, the Police chief will report to the President directly," he said.
