"I declare this meeting open," said the vice president as he struck a gong to mark the opening of the national gathering in the company of Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi, Jakarta Vice Governor Prijanto, Health Minister Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, and Social Affairs Minister Salim Segaf Al Jufri.
The meeting was also attended by 1,350 participants including governors, district heads, mayors, chairmen of people`s empowerment commissions in the districts and provinces across the country.
The National Program for Rural Self-empowerment program in 32 provinces is under the management of Home Affairs Ministry through the directorate general of Rural Communities Empowerment (PMD).
