"The profit was fueled by net interest income which rose 40.9 percent to Rp3.847 trillion from Rp2.731 trillion in the same period last year," BCA President Director D.E Setijoso said on Thursday.
He said assets grew 14.9 percent to Rp326.5 trillion from Rp284.2 trillion and credit portfolios rose 24.4 percent to Rp150.3 trillion.
The bank`s loan-to-debt ratio (LDR) reached 54.4 percent, or lower than that set by Bank Indonesia (the central bank).
The lower-than-expected LDR was caused by the higher growth of third party fund placement instead of by the low amount of loans channeled, he said.
He said the bank adopted prudential principles in approving applications for credits. (*)
