Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Timor Leste`s application to become member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations will be discussed at the meeting of ASEAN heads of state or government, Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said.

However, a decision on the application would not be made at the 18th summit, he said here on Wednesday.

"I think it will be discussed at the meeting of heads of state but no decision will be made right away," he said.

Timor Leste who would be an observer at the 18th summit has since 2010 expressed its interest in joining ASEAN and through Prime Minister Xanaa Gusmao had asked for Indonesia`s support. Indonesia is the current chair of ASEAN.

Indonesia has already expressed its support and hoped Timor Leste could become an ASEAN member before the realization of the ASEAN Community by 2015.

Marty said the 18th summit would also discuss the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia as it had drawn the attention of all ASEAN member countries.

"Definitely. I am sure. The problem has attracted our attention. The Cambodian prime minister will be in the country. So it is almost certain the issue will be discussed," he said.

Marty meanwhile said that the ASEAN ministerial-level meeting would focus on three priorities namely assuring significant progress towards ASEAN Community establishment, regional situation and ASEAN cooperation at global levels.
