TNI Chief Admiral Agus Suhartono and Police Chief Gen Timur Pradopo are scheduled to arrive in Mimika district town of Timika at 1.45 pm local time on Friday for a three-day working visit until Sunday.
Timika, Papua (ANTARA News) - Security at Mozes Kilangin airport in Timika, Papua Province, was tightened on Friday for the arrival of National Defense Forces (TNI) and National Police chiefs.

TNI Chief Admiral Agus Suhartono and Police Chief Gen Timur Pradopo are scheduled to arrive in Mimika district town of Timika at 1.45 pm local time on Friday for a three-day working visit until Sunday.

Mimika police spokesman Adjunct Senior Commissioner Denny Edward Siregar said here on Thursday that the TNI and Police chiefs would arrive by a special aircraft at Mozes Kilangin airport in Timika on Friday afternoon.

Denny Edward said Agus Suhartono and Timur Pradopo would discuss security and stability in Mimika district, especially around national vital objects of PT Freeport Indonesia mining area.

In line with the visit, Denny said Mimika police would coordinate with local TNI ranks and file to ensure security for the TNI and Police chiefs` stay in Timika.

According to him, Mimika Police would deploy two third of its personnel to ensure the security during the TNI and Police chiefs` working visit.

In Timika, the TNI and Police chiefs will visit Papua Regional Police Mobile Brigade detachment headquarters where Cenderawasih Military Commander Maj Gen Triasunu and Papua Police Chief Insp Gen Bekto Suprapto will explain the security situation in the province, especially in Timika.

On Friday evening they were slated to attend a dinner party where they will listen to the explanation from PT Freeport Indonesia management about the mining operations.

Then on Saturday they and their entourage will fly on helicopter to Tembagapura to inspect Freeport`s operations at Grasberg mining complex.

Before leaving Timika for Merauke on Sunday, on Saturday evening they will hold a gathering with Papua provincial and Mimikia district officials as well as local public figures.
