Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Ethics Council (DK) of the Democrat Party (PD) can discharge PD General Treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin or ask him to resign if there is a strong indication of his involvement in corruption , DK member Ahmad Mubarok said.

"This has become a standard operation procedure in the PD`s council of ethics," Mubarok said at a discussion in the soft launching of "Gus Dur School of Philosophy" here on Friday.

However, he said, there was no strong indication so far of his involvement in the corruption case of the construction of a SEA Games athletes dormitory in Palembang, South Sumatra.

He said that the call for him to resign immediately was only based on perceptions. "The PD`s Ethics Council up to now still only collects opinions and statements but it has not yet found any legal facts," he said.

He said that opinions and statements about Nazaruddin`s alleged involvement in the corruption case arose from the statement of the marketing director of PT Anak Negeri, Mindo Rosalina Manulang, when she was grilled by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on April 21, 2011.

Mindo Rosalina Manullang, together with Marketing Director of Pt Duta Graha Indah Muhammad El Idris and Secretary of the Youths and Sports minister, Wafid Muharram, was arrested by the KPK investigators in the office of Wafid Muharram.

At that time, the KPK investigators confiscated a piece of evidence in the form of a check worth Rp3.2 billion.(*)
