Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Former Indonesia president BJ Habibie asked the people to be optimistic in the face of the nation`s problems, stressing the need to be consistent in the struggle for the nation`s coals.

"We are the sons of freedom fighters. I always pray for us all to be in the right track, despite the fact that we are facing ups and downs. I know consistency is needed," the former president said in a function held to observe the first anniversary of the death of Hasri Ainun Habibie here on Monday.

Habibie said that as a nation, Indonesia has received appreciations from various countries for the success of its democratic and peaceful reforms in 1998 and 1999.

He said he had been invited on May 5 to May 6, 2011 to address an international seminar on peaceful political transformation in Indonesia.

Habibie said his role as a scientist could not be separated from the encouragement of his wife Ainun Habibie. He said the role of a wife was very big in the husband`s career.

The first anniversary of Ainun Habibie`s death was held at the residence of the Indonesian third president in ​​Patra Kuningan, South Jakarta.
