Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA News) - Two Garuda Indonesia planes at Juanda Airport here received a bomb threat from an unidentified person on Wednesday.

Commander of the Juanda Air Base Supranyoto confirmed the bomb threat which was faxed to the airport.

"The general manager of state airport operator Angkasa Pura I phoned me that he had received a fax containing a bomb threat. According to the fax, two Garuda planes serving the Surabaya-Jakarta route would be blown up. We later ordered all of our men to comb the passenger and cargo compartments," he said.

He said his men found three packages suspected of containing explosives in the G-8 waiting room. However, they found no bomb.

One of the packages contained jelly, he said.

To anticipate unexpected happenings, he said, the bomb-defusing squad also checked the Garuda plane which was about to fly to Jakarta after taking it to a special apron.

"The Garuda plane with flight number GA-313 was taken to a special place to see if there was a hijacking or terror attempt. The passengers who had boarded the plane were ordered to get off," he said.

"One passenger was found carrying powder. But after being checked it was material used to make herbal medicine," he said.
