Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The launch of a Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia`s Economic Development (MP3EI) 2011-2025 is designed to support national development planning, a minister said.

"MP3EI is not meant to replace the existing development plan but both will be integrated through approaches among the government, the business world and the community," State Minister for National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Armida S Alisjahbana said in her address to the launch of MP3EI here on Friday.

In line with the launch of the master plan, to attract more investment and create more jobs, the government as a regulator would always take policies to facilitate the business world, she said.

The government would deregulate policies hampering the business world, accelerate the enactment of laws and government regulations and scrap overlapping policies between the central and regional governments, she said.

"We will also issue regulations to support MP3EI, consider to provide more incentives and speed up and simplify licensing procedures," she said.

In addition, the government would also increase budget allocations to support infrastructure development and encourage the promotion of human resources and the development of sciences and technology, she said.

"Investment in human resources and science and technology is important. In this context, educated human resources will play a key role in ensuring sustainable economic growth," she said.

She said the government had set aside Rp755 trillion in funds to develop projects in the MP3EI. Nearly Rp143 trillion of the funds would be used to construct roads, Rp138 trillion railway tracks, Rp49 trillion seaports, Rp14 trillion airports, Rp288 trillion energy needs, Rp8 trillion clean water, Rp102 trillion telematics and Rp13 trillion other facilities.

"Nearly 28 percent or Rp213 trillion of the funds will go to Java, and 72 percent or Rp542 trillion will be allocated for the development of other economic corridors," she said. (*)
