Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono welcomed the holding of the 11th national conference of the Utsawa Dharma Gita (UDG) to increase the understanding, comprehension and practice of teachings of the Wedha holy book of Hindus.

"Utsawa Dharma Gita is part of a religious tradition of Hindus rich in cultural and spiritual values as a source of inspiration of a nation`s character building," he said here Friday night.

On the occasion the President also responded positively to the Bali World Culture Forum (BWCF) 2011, in which the participants will discuss Balinese culture from various aspects.

It was hoped that the views and experience of the participants from many countries contribute to the development and preservation of Balinese culture.

"The Bali World Culture Forum is part of our ideas to form a world cultural forum, and will be held in Bali this year," he said.

The President also said that the Island Paradise with its cultural and spiritual power will host the World Culture Forum on a regular basis.

Then the President opened the 23rd Art Festival and the 11th Utsawa Dharma Gita as well as the Bali World Culture Forum. (*)
