Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA News) - A member of the ruling Democrat Party`s advisory board said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono`s recent statement about presidency was not a political ploy.

In view of that Jero Wacik, the advisory board member, called on the public here Saturday to believe it.

President Yudhoyono before the Indonesian Young Leaders` Forum in Jakarta on Thursday said that he would not seek re-election in 2014 and he had also asked his wife and sons not to run.

Jero Wacik, who was here to accompany President Yudhoyono for a working visit, said he called on the public not to understand the President`s move as a political strategy.

"What he said is what he meant. He is a kind of person who always says what wants to say. So do not understand it as a mere political tactic or others," he said.

Jero Wacik said President Yudhoyono said the truth when he said that he and family members would not run for presidency in 2014.

Moreover, it has also been stated in the constitution that a president may only hold the post for two terms.

Before the Young Leaders Forum President Yudhoyono also said that he was not preparing his replacement.

Yudhoyono said anyone has the same right and opportunity to run for president in 2014 and therefore people should be left to decide themselves who they want to be their president.
