President Yudhyono is scheduled to present letters from children in Aceh to children in Japan affected by earthquake and tsunami last March.
President Yudhoyono had said that his visit to Japan was showing Indonesia`s solidarity with Japan and for presenting Indonesia` aid to Japan.
"The president and entourage would visit one of the affected regions to meet with survivors and present aid and letters from Aceh children to their friends in Japan," he said in a press conference in Switzerland where he attended an ILO conference before leaving for Japan.
President Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhyono would be in Japan until June 18.
He is also scheduled to meet with prime minister Naoto Kan and attend other meetings.
President Yudhoyono and entourage are also scheduled to visit one of the shelters for survivors in the worst hit area in Japan.
President Yudhoyono is also scheduled to give a lecture at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies on "Responding to International Challenges, Strengthening Indonesia-Japan Relations,"which will be attended by 300 invitees.
President Yudhoyono and entourage are expected to return home on June 18.
