Lt.Gen Shusen hoped, the joint exercises between Indonesia Special Forces and China Armed Forces could be a starting point for military cooperation between Indonesia and the People`s Republic of China, especially for the army of both countries.
Bandung, W.Java (ANTARA News) - The Chinese government is hoping that its military cooperation with Indonesia will increase in the future, the visiting Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Chinese Army, Lt Gen Hou Shusen, said here Friday.

"We hope, we can enhance our cooperation with Indonesia in the military field, broaden and deepen it," he said.

Speaking after the close of a Joint Exercise between Indonesia`s Special Forces and China`s Armed Forces, Lt Gen Shusen said, it was the first time in the history of the two countries` relations for them to cooperate in the military field.

Cooperating for the first time was a good experience for both parties to understand and to build trust in each other, especially in conducting joint military operations.

"This joint exercise is also expected to be a milestone for both parties to continue improving and developing bilateral relations that have been going well so far," he said.

Not only that, the joint exercise could also improve the ability, skill and professionalism of the military special forces soldiers of both countries, he added.

"The special forces soldiers of both countries can exchange their experiences, skills and abilities in order to get a form of cooperation between the two countries` special forces which is more comprehensive, in terms of both technical and operational tactics," Lt.Gen Shusen explained.

He said, the joint exercise could also build and improve China`s military special forces.

"We got a lot of experiences and lessons from Indonesia special forces as one of the best forces in the world. The first experience of the joint exercise, became something very meaningful for the development of China special forces," he added.

For nearly a week, the Special Forces of Indonesian Army and Chinese Army conducted a joint exercise codenamed "Sharp Knife 2011".

The exercise that was centered at the Indonesian Special Forces Education Center in Batujajar took place from June 6 to June 19, 2011.

The materials drilled were right shoot, reaction shoot of 1 to 4, the rush of tire house, close combat techniques, Method of Entry (MOE), techniques and tactics to free hostages, static and free fall jumps as well as case studies on terrorism.(*)
