Jakarta, June 24 (ANTARA News) - Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa and his Singapore counterpart K Shanmugam have agreed to speed up talks on the settlement of their two countries` maritime borders.

The agreement to accelerate the settlement of both countries maritime borders, was reached during a meeting between the two ministers here on Friday.

According to a statement from the East Asa and Southeast Asia Directorate of the Foreign Ministry, at their meeting the two foreign ministers discussed various pending issues and possibilities for wider cooperation.

In a press conference after the meeting, Marty said that relations between the two countries were running well and on a very close and solid basis.

The good relations between the two countries were reflected in the many cooperation instruments they had, such as the frequency of meetings between officials of the two nations and working groups which continued to identify cooperation opportunities.

The two foreign ministers also discussed follow-up steps of the meeting between the two heads of state of the two countries in May 2010, particularly regarding political, economic, social and cultural cooperation.
