Moscow (ANTARA News/RIA Novosti) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will on Thursday hold a meeting to discuss preparation for an APEC summit in the Russian Far Eastern city of Vladivostok, presidential spokeswoman Natalya Timakova said.

Timakova said the president will inspect facilities being built for the summit, including a bridge to the Russky Island and a campus of the Far Eastern Federal University.

The summit preparation program also includes the construction of an international air terminal and two five-star hotels, wastewater purification facilities, as well as modernization of the water supply system and the power grid.

Vladivostok will host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in 2012.

Modernization will become the key theme of Russia`s 2012 presidency of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday.

"We plan to make this a key issue of our next year`s presidency in APEC," the Russian leader said at the opening ceremony of the Forum for Asia in China`s Boao.

The Russian leader also invited the Boao forum`s participants to the XV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum to be held on June 16-18. (*)
