Let us just wait and see what the party`s ethics council will do...
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The ruling Democrat Party will take further action if Nazaruddin, the party`s former treasurer, continues to ignore Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summonses for him to be questioned as a witness or suspect, a spokesman said.

Syarif Hasan, a member of the party's advisory board, said here on Thursday the Democrat Party in principle could not force him to immediately return home (from Singapore) but it could appeal to him to be responsible for what he had done.

"Let us just wait and see what the party's ethics council will do. If he still will not come after he has been named a suspect, we, the party, will take further action," he said.

Nazaruddin who is now in Singapore had failed to meet KPK summonses for questioning as a witness in a corruption case several times.

Nazaruddin left for Singapore on May 23 or a day before the KPK issued a travel ban on him.

A member of the Democrat Party's Ethics Council, EE Mangindaan, meawhile said the party was fully leaving Nazaruddin's case to the law.

The Ethics Council until now had no plan to recall Nazaruddin from the House of Representatives or revoke his party membership.

Regarding Andi Nurpati's case, Mangindaan said the Ethics Council was still discussing it and following further developments. Andi Nurpati who is a Democrat Party official is alleged to have forged a Constitutional Court document while she was a member of the General Elections Commission (KPU).
